Manchester Homelessness Partnership Newsletter: November 2022 Welcome to the Manchester Homelessness Partnership’s first newsletter! November 2022 Relaunch of the Manchester Homelessness Partnership Over 170 attendees from over 50 organisations came together at the start of October to celebrate the successes of the MHP, and look to the future of the Partnership. Speakers included people with lived experience of homelessness, representatives from homeless charities and the public sector. The day rounded off with market stalls, where the MHP Action Groups were represented. Read on for more information about the Action Groups and how you can join! Action Groups The MHP Action Groups have been the driving force behind the Partnership since 2016, uniting people with personal experience of homelessness with organisations from different sectors, to co-produce solutions together. If you haven’t already, please sign up here to join an Action Group(s), which work on specific themes, and please share with your networks and anyone you think might be interested! Spotlight on … Women’s Homelessness Involvement Group Aim: To bring different VCSE and public sector services together with women who have experience of being homeless to influence change that improves women’s experience of homeless services and accommodation..History: The group was set up in 2016, after members noticed how women’s experiences of homelessness often differ from men and that this is not always considered in the design and delivery of services. Current/recent project: Developing political asks around different themes, such as multi-agency approaches and trauma-informed training. The group would love to hear from and work with others, so please do get in touch at womencochairs@gmail.com Call for co-chairs Real Change MCR are looking for a co-chair with experience of being homeless to help lead the group. Real Change MCR (previous Big Change) is a fund to help people experiencing homelessness pay for practical items that they need to build lives away from the streets. Consultation: Have your say on the next steps for the MHP A key part of the Relaunch was asking ourselves – what’s next for the MHP? I’m Zainab, the new Network and Communications Worker for the Manchester Homelessness Partnership. My role is to facilitate and support communication and collective working between network members, as well as to connect the partnership with external organisations and individuals, to work together towards the aims of the Manchester Homelessness Charter. Events & Resources Shelter’s Walk For Home9 December, 10:00 to 13:00, Shelter Manchester Hub Walk for Home with Shelter this December and raise funds to enable Shelter to continue to provide free and expert support to the people in our community who are denied a safe home. Report: Temporary Accommodation at Crisis Point: frontline perspectives from London and Greater Manchester The Smith Institute have released a report examining statutory homelessness and temporary accommodation (TA) in London and Greater Manchester, to shed light on what is currently happening with the supply and demand of TA.
